The Association for Development and Education of Youth “Safe Step” implements a project called “POP – Start Prevention Now”, which is financially supported by the Institute for Public Health of the Republic of Srpska. The project consists of a series of activities aimed at improving the health of the Roma population. The activities are divided into 3 basic groups – I educational workshops and gynecological examinations of Roma women, II educational workshops on healthy nutrition and hygiene of children and III vaccination of children.
So far, workshops have been held with women and a significant number of women have received gynecological examinations for the purpose of prevention, in order to detect in time if there is any health problem.
Children’s educational workshops were also completed, where children learned about the importance of healthy nutrition, hygiene, but also regular sleep, as well as other factors that affect a child’s health, growth and development.
The activity of vaccinating children is underway, where the families were visited and it was discussed with parents about the importance of vaccination, and the children were also scheduled for a pediatrician’s examination and vaccination.
