Association for the development and education of Youth “Siguran Korak” (Safe Step) from Bijeljina implements a project called “The welfare of women – the welfare of society”, which is financially supported by the organization Ecumenical Women’s Initiative, as part of the “SEE CHANGE” project, which is co-financed by the European Union.

The changes we want to achieve through the project are:

  • a braver woman, strong, independent, involved in social life, informed and educated about the importance of fighting violence, a better approach of institutions towards Roma women who suffer violence, understanding the essence of the problem of violence and discrimination – so that citizens and the general public understand the true essence of the problem and the need for solving them, so that those who have stereotypes and prejudices against the fight against violence against women understand why it is important to fight against violence.

The basic activities that will be implemented in the project are:

  • Online campaign on gender-based violence
  • Workshops with Roma women and girls and the socially vulnerable on the topic of gender-based violence
  • Workshops with young men and adolescents on the topic of gender-based violence

We are currently completing an online survey, in which over 200 residents of Bijeljina filled out a questionnaire and expressed their opinion on the topic of gender-based violence, and workshops with women and girls are also underway.
